The latest agreement stems from the strategic partnership formed by Honda, Mitsubishi and Nissan in August 2024.

HONDA and Mitsubishi Motors have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a new Honda pick-up based on the Mitsubishi Triton, with sales in ASEAN scheduled to begin in 2028.

The agreement confirms earlier reports that Honda was preparing to enter the regional one-tonne pick-up segment using the Triton as its base.

It also marks the first product supply initiative between Honda and Mitsubishi, allowing both companies to expand their respective line-ups without developing an entirely new vehicle from scratch.
