KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been asked to clarify conflicting statements over claims that rural development projects were sacrificed to fund other programmes.
In a letter dated today, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul asked Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, to provide an explanation, supported by relevant evidence or documents, by Thursday (Nov 12).
The letter was shared by Chong Zhemin (PH-Kampar) at a press conference today.
"I hope this matter can be resolved. If it has caused confusion in the House, he can withdraw the statement and provide an explanation," Chong said.
