KUALA LUMPUR: The government will provide an additional 100,000 free artificial intelligence (AI) subscriptions, expanding access to new AI applications, including ChatGPT, under the 2027 Budget.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative would be expanded following an encouraging response to the existing free AI subscription programme for young people.
"Following the encouraging response to free AI subscriptions for young people, I am pleased to announce that this initiative will be strengthened with an additional 100,000 free AI subscriptions, and expanded to include new AI applications such as ChatGPT," he said.
Tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, Anwar said the government would develop a sovereign AI cloud to keep Malaysians' data and the country's strategic information under national control.
