KUALA LUMPUR: Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) applying for halal certification for the first time will receive a matching grant of up to RM5,000.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that many local entrepreneurs have quality products but face challenges obtaining halal certification and accessing wider markets.

"The government has agreed to provide matching grants of up to RM5,000 to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) seeking halal certification for the first time," he said when tabling the 2027 Budget at the Dewan Rakyat here today.

Anwar added that grants of RM25,000 will also be provided to strengthen halal MSMEs in sectors such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
