The Malaysian Pharmacists Society said efforts to resolve contract employment issues in the healthcare sector would be incomplete if pharmacists facing similar uncertainty were left without a clear path to permanent appointments. (AFP pic)PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) has called on the government to clarify the status of contract pharmacists and provide a clear pathway for those awaiting permanent appointment.
While welcoming the 2027 budget announcement to provide permanent appointments for over 9,000 contract doctors, MPS says the longstanding employment uncertainty faced by contract pharmacists must also be addressed.
MPS president Amrahi Buang said contract pharmacists also served alongside other healthcare professionals in public health facilities.
