KUALA LUMPUR: The Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) will mobilise its national affiliates to expand grassroots talent scouting after the government reaffirmed its financial backing for disability sports under a RM460 million national sports development allocation.

The allocation, part of the RM510 billion 2027 Budget, channels funds towards sustaining high-performance talent, driving the Road to Gold programme, upgrading training facilities nationwide and supporting targeted development for para-athletes and deaf sports.

The package is further bolstered by RM30 million in Sports Matching Grants to support high-performance competitions organised by sports bodies, alongside a 50 per cent increase in primary and secondary school sports funding to RM27 million, benefiting 4.6 million students across 10,000 schools.
