PUTRAJAYA: The government has allocated RM5 billion to strengthen the country's internet connectivity under the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela), to expand telecommunications infrastructure and improve digital access.

The Communications Ministry said the initiative would provide 4G coverage in all Orang Asli villages, internet access along 7,000km of roads and 1,700km of railway tracks, and implement the Madani Submarine Cable Connection (Salam).

The initiatives are part of the 2027 Budget, themed "Reaching for the Skies, While Anchored on Our Values", which the Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, tabled on Oct 9.

The ministry said the budget also allocated RM142 million to strengthen National Information Dissemination Centres (Nadi), along with more than RM130 million to support the local film, music and creative content industries.
