Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King became only the third Malaysian pair to win the men’s doubles title at the Arctic Open in its 36-year history.PETALING JAYA: Scratch pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King capped their brilliant run at the Arctic Open by lifting the men’s doubles title in their maiden outing at the World Tour Super 500 championships in Finland.

In a tournament where they made heads turn by beating all five higher-ranked pairs in straight games, Aaron Tai-Roy King defeated 60th ranked Taiwanese duo Lai Po Yu-Tsai Fu Cheng 21-19, 21-19 in 41 minutes at the Energia Areena in Vantaa.

The pair’s giant-killing feats in the tournament will see them taking home US$39,500 (RM160,654) as champions while the runners-up earn US$19,000 (RM77,277).
