PUTRAJAYA: A former bowling coach has been sentenced to another two years in prison for outraging the modesty of a former Sukma athlete who was 13 when the offence was committed.
The Court of Appeal unanimously allowed the prosecution’s appeal against the acquittal of Mat Salleh Jalani, 63, under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
The three-member bench, comprising Justices Azmi Ariffin, Hayatul Akmal Abdul Aziz and Meor Hashimi Abdul Hamid, ordered the sentence to run consecutively with Mat Salleh’s existing six-year jail term for sexually assaulting another former Sukma athlete under Section 14A of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
