KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has proposed a renewed Malaysian Economic Model (MEM) to narrow regional disparities and ensure economic growth translates into better incomes, jobs and living standards.

He said economic performance should be measured not only by gross domestic product, investment and exports, but also by its impact on people's livelihoods.

"Because people do not live in GDP. They live in rent, in food prices, in transportation cost, in school fees and in the hope of a job," he said at the SG4 Business and Economic Forum 2026, themed "Four States. One Economic Vision", here today.

Samsuri proposed an integrated economic corridor linking industry, energy, logistics, technology and workforce development across Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis.
