MELAKA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has denied that the RM1,000 special financial assistance given to taxi, rental car and school bus drivers in Melaka today was intended to fish for votes ahead of the Melaka State Election.
He said the incentive was being extended to all taxi, rental car and school bus drivers nationwide following its announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the tabling of the 2027 Budget in Parliament recently.
"I want to clarify some remarks made by people outside who have asked why the assistance is being given only in Melaka.
"The fact is that this special financial assistance is for all taxi drivers nationwide, not just those in Melaka.
