(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: The Kuala Lumpur sessions court has sentenced former Bersatu leader and activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard, to four months’ imprisonment for criminal defamation over remarks that could tarnish the king's reputation.
In a statement, lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali said judge Norma Ismail held that Badrul’s defence failed to raise reasonable doubt about the prosecution’s case.
He said the court imposed a four-month jail sentence after hearing mitigation from the defence and prosecution, but granted a stay of execution pending an appeal to the High Court.
