(Bernama pic)GEORGE TOWN: All pig farms in Kampung Selamat, Tasek Gelugor, have been sending livestock waste to a biogas plant in Ampang Jajar since May 4 to control pollution and odour problems in Sungai Kereh.
State local government, town and country planning committee chairman H'ng Mooi Lye said this was to control the discharge of livestock waste into the environment, particularly drains flowing into Sungai Kereh.
The Penang veterinary services department also applies useful microbe-activated solutions into public drains in Kampung Selamat on a weekly basis, he added.
