KUALA LUMPUR: The processing plant raided by police last Friday for allegedly slaughtering dead chickens for the Klang Valley market is believed to have been capable of processing about 40,000 birds a day.
Checks found that all 12 workers at the factory were undocumented migrants without certification to slaughter animals.
Internal Security and Public Order Department (Operations) deputy director Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim said a man in his early 30s owned the premises.
"The factory is believed to have been operating for about 10 years. The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) had issued several warnings to the premises, but these were ignored.
