KUALA LUMPUR: National men's doubles coach Herry Iman Piengardi has urged fans to temper expectations and avoid making premature comparisons involving rising pair Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King.
The young duo have drawn comparisons to South Korea's world No. 1 Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae, while Aaron's left-handed, attacking style has prompted fans to liken him to former Olympic silver medallist Yap Kim Hock.
However, Herry said Aaron and Kim Hock play differently despite their similar physical build.
Kim Hock partnered Cheah Soon Kit to win men's doubles silver medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 1997 Glasgow World Championships.
