KUALA LUMPUR: Artificial intelligence (AI) systems in cargo scanners at airports and ports are still at the learning stage and often cannot identify what they detect, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah told the Dewan Rakyat.
"At airports, the export and import systems have scanners with AI features. But frankly, the AI is still at the learning stage.
"When an image is produced, the item shown often cannot be identified clearly because of its poor quality. The system labels everything as 'this is a bomb, this is a bomb, this is a bomb', even when it is not. So the data is still incomplete," he said.
Hasbi was responding to a question from Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (PN-Kuala Kangsar) during the oral question-and-answer session.
