PUTRAJAYA: Police officers have no constitutional right to appeal disciplinary decisions to a disciplinary appeal board, the Federal Court has ruled.

A three-member bench chaired by Datuk Nordin Hassan made the ruling in dismissing an appeal by former police inspector Mohd Azizul Abd Wahab, who was dismissed over his handling of hundreds of investigation papers.

Other members of the bench were Datuk Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera and Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh.

The apex court ruled that the unique responsibilities of police officers in maintaining law and order justified subjecting them to a different disciplinary framework from other public servants.
