The government is open to an RCI into the alleged corporate mafia if sufficient grounds emerge, as police continue investigations under Op Viking.

PETALING JAYA: The government has not ruled out establishing a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the alleged corporate mafia, provided sufficient grounds and evidence justify a wider investigation.

In a written parliamentary reply, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the proposal should be assessed based on whether there was a reasonable need to expand the scope of the investigation and identify areas requiring further scrutiny.

“The government does not rule out the need for such an inquiry if there are clear grounds and a demonstrable need for a more comprehensive investigation, with sufficiently strong facts established,” he said.
