MELAKA: Tackling flood issues in Melaka remains a foremost priority for Caretaker Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, particularly in addressing deficiencies within the drainage network and mitigating the impact of rising water levels on residential settlements.
He said the state administration has initiated several measures alongside relevant agencies to enhance water drainage systems, including securing Federal Government funding for flood mitigation schemes.
He noted that several flood-prone areas have been identified as requiring urgent intervention, including Bukit Rambai, which received dedicated allocations under the national budget.
"With regard to flooding, we have sought substantial allocations from the Federal Government. We have upgraded flood mitigation measures to improve the discharge of runoff from flood-hit localities.
