MELAKA: A Bersatu candidate in the state election has given those responsible for circulating a video linking him to an altercation with a local authority officer 24 hours to issue a public apology and clear his name, failing which he will take legal action.

Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee, who is contesting the Pengkalan Batu seat, said the video, which went viral on Threads, was an old recording, although he could not recall the exact date of the incident.

"The video is very old. I am giving them 24 hours from the time it started circulating. If my name is not cleared, legal action will be taken.

"I do not need to make a fuss. There is the law. That is all," he said when contacted.
