Preliminary investigations suggested that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and her boyfriend.

PETALING JAYA: A 19-year-old student believed to have been strangled by her boyfriend following an argument was found dead at a house in Air Putih, Kuantan, early this morning.

Kuantan police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the boyfriend, also 19, was arrested at the scene after contacting the police himself at 4.32am to report the incident, according to Berita Harian.

"The victim was found lying unconscious on a bed. We found strangulation marks on her," he was quoted as saying.

He said preliminary investigations suggested that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two.
