KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) has launched an internal investigation following the seizure of 521kg of crystal methamphetamine from a private jet reportedly arriving in Laos from Malaysia.
Its director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain however declined to elaborate on the aspects being probed.
He clarified that the investigation was limited to MCBA, while the drug seizure case fell under the jurisdiction of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department.
"We are conducting an internal investigation on our side, but further developments on the case should be referred to NCID as it involves drugs," he said when contacted.
Earlier today, media reports said Lao police had seized 521kg of crystal methamphetamine from a private jet reportedly arriving from Malaysia at Luang Prabang International Airport, with 13 people detained in connection with the case.
