KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Hairee Kool has revealed that he advised his son, rising singer and TV host Kim Khairi, to be completely open about being married and having a child.
Hairee, 57, whose real name is Mohd Khairi Yaakob, said that while he respects the choices made by the 23-year-old—his son with former wife, singer Safura Yaacob—there is no need to keep his personal life hidden.
"I am fully aware of the scene among fans in Malaysia, where married artistes often suffer a drop in popularity, but in Kim's case, it is much better for him to simply be straightforward about his status," Hairee explained.
"When Kim was participating in the second season of Talk To My Manager (TTMM 2), and members of the media found out he was married, he came to me asking for advice on how to handle the situation.
