KUALA LUMPUR: Taxi, hire car and school bus drivers will receive a one-off RM1,000 financial aid following the sale of the special "H" number plate series, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced.
He said the aid would benefit 38,000 taxi and hire car drivers and 15,000 school bus drivers nationwide, with payments to be disbursed next week.
"Following the recent sale of the special 'H' number plates, the government has agreed to give a one-off special financial aid of RM1,000 to 38,000 taxi drivers, including hire cars, and 15,000 school bus drivers nationwide," he said when tabling the 2027 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat.
Anwar said proceeds from the sale of the special number plates had been channelled back to the people through various initiatives.
