KUALA LUMPUR: SG4 is open to exploring small-scale nuclear reactors as a potential source of energy.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the focus would be on smaller nuclear power systems rather than conventional large-scale plants.

He was responding to a question on whether SG4 had discussed potential nuclear energy development with the federal government, including possible reactor sites.

"What we are going to look at for Malaysia, if I may, is what we call the portable, small-scale nuclear reactor, which can produce, of course, a small amount of energy," he told reporters at the SG4 Business and Economic Forum 2026 here today.
