BUKIT MERTAJAM: Four men were each fined RM3,000 by the magistrate's court after pleading guilty to conspiring to commit online fraud involving a "love scam" syndicate.
The accused, Ho Kui Ming, 33, Edmund Yii Kan Xi, 26, Choo Xin Thuan, 33, and Tiong Weng Chiong, 32, entered their pleas before magistrate Sharifah Razali.
The offence was allegedly committed at a location in Taman Alma Indah, in the Seberang Perai Tengah district, about 11.15pm on Oct 19. The charges were brought under Section 417 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 120B(1) of the same code.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Amalina Harun prosecuted the case. Two of the accused were represented by lawyer Ima Shakira Mohd Salim, while the other two were represented by lawyer Chiang Kian Hong.
