Bank Negara Malaysia said the country’s sound economic fundamentals are expected to keep growth resilient in 2027, with the external sector remaining a key driver.PETALING JAYA: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has maintained the overnight policy rate (OPR) at 2.75%, citing resilient economic growth and a stable inflation outlook.
In a statement today, BNM said recent indicators pointed to continued strength in the Malaysian economy in the third quarter of 2026, supported by strong exports and sustained domestic demand.
BNM said the current OPR level was consistent with its outlook for continued price stability and sustainable economic growth.
“Going into 2027, geopolitical developments, elevated global commodity prices and adverse weather conditions are expected to exert upward pressure on inflation," it said.
