ROME: Italian, French and Bulgarian fighter jets scrambled Thursday as about 20 flights were hit by a third day of hoax bomb alerts across Europe, authorities and airlines said.
The hoaxes involved flights from Greece to Britain, but particularly targeted low-cost carriers and flights to or from Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Italy.
Three flights were diverted but all the jets landed safely with no explosives found.
