KUALA LUMPUR: The delivery of the Royal Malaysian Navy's first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS 1) has been delayed to April 2027 and will be handed over without its surface-to-surface Naval Strike Missile (NSM) system.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said contractor Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd (Lunas) had informed the ministry that it could no longer fulfil its earlier commitment and guarantee to deliver LCS 1 in December 2026.

"Lunas has given a new date that LCS 1 is expected to be delivered in April 2027, which is approximately six months from now," he said when winding up the debate on the Auditor General's Report 2/2026 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Khaled said the ministry acknowledged that LCS 1's acceptance in April 2027 would be without the NSM system.
