Earlier today, the Malaysian Medical Association urged health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad to explain the attempt to exempt liquid nicotine from the poisons list again.PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA) has raised concerns over the latest move to exempt liquid nicotine from the poisons list, urging the Poisons Board to explain its reported support for the delisting.
MPA said the board unanimously rejected a similar exemption in 2023 over concerns that it would enable the sale of nicotine vapes to children.
"If there is new evidence (justifying the Poisons Board's change in position), it must be published for public and professional scrutiny. If there is none, this decision cannot be justified," it said in a statement.
